Studio Owner: Ms. Margo HayesAnyone who's visited A Time to Dance knows that Margo is the spark that keeps it all going! Her genuine warmth is obvious as she greets people at the door, then sees to it that everyone has a good time. Her occasional dance exhibition numbers are a particular treat. Margo was born in Nuremberg, Germany, as her accent attests. Her lifelong love of dancing began with “The Roxy Girls” revue ballet, then took a military turn with special service shows, Red Cross benefits, and officers' club shows. Margo traveled all over Germany performing in theatre productions in major cities. When she came to the US as a young woman, Margo waltzed right into the musical productions of the Operatic Society and The Little Theatre. The King and I, Little Abner, Carousel, and Oklahoma are just a few of the musical gems to which she added her sparkle. The Arthur Murray studios launched Margo's ballroom-dance teaching career. She even received a special award from Mr. Murray himself in New Orleans. Then she managed Arthur Murray studios in Newport News, Virginia for two years, during which time, she accompanied and performed with her students at many Pro/Am competitions. Whether it's welcoming someone with a hug, teaching a newcomer a dance step, or designing the lovely decor at the studio, it's clear that Margo delights in giving herself to others. Though she also enjoys cooking for guests, photography, and music of many kinds.
